Mandatory Manager and Coach Training

Hello Peninsula Managers, Coaches, and Parents -

Little League has new requirements for coaches training this year.  I know that this is a lot, so please bear with us and get this training completed as soon as possible.

Any person who intends to be on the field during practices or games is required to compete the following:

1. Diamond Leader Training –  https://www.littleleague.org/diamondleader/ - Send your certificate to the Coaches Coordinator and the Safety Officer.  This is a one-time certification, so if you did this in the past, you may send your previous certificate of completion.

2. Child Abuse Awareness Training
 -  Child Abuse Awareness Training - Click on the link, create an account, then go to "Education", then "Courses."  Scroll down to "Abuse Awareness Training for Adults."  This training is new this year so everyone needs to complete it. Send your certificate to the Coaches Coordinator and the Safety Officer.

3. Concussion Training
 - CDC Heads-Up Concussion Training - Send your certificate to the Coaches Coordinator and the Safety Officer.  This is also a one-time certification, so if you did this in the past, you may send your previous certificate of completion.

4. Background Check through JD Palatin
 - If you are registered on the PLL website as a volunteer, this will be emailed to you via the Safety Officer in early January.  If you are not registered on the website as a volunteer but you intend to manage or assist this season, please register as a volunteer on the website.  The JD Palatin background check is an annual requirement so even if you did one last spring or fall, you will need to do another one for this season.

5. LiveScan Background Check
 - For CAPS and above, you must also complete a LiveScan background check in addition to the JD Palatin check.  If you've completed a LiveScan for PLL in the past, you do not need to do it again.  However, if you have completed a LiveScan for another organization (soccer, school, childcare, etc) then you will need to do another one specifically for PLL.

We will have a LiveScan service at Cleator Field on Saturday, Jan 13 from 11am-3pm.
You must bring your ID and the completed LiveScan Form.  The league will be paying for all LiveScans completed on Jan 13 at Cleator.  If you are unable to make it on Jan 13, you may go to any LiveScan location to complete the check and then send the verification of completion to the Coaches Coordinator and Safety Officer.  The cost of a LiveScan is about $25 and the league will not be be able to reimburse people who complete their LiveScan on their own.  Therefore, it is highly recommended that you complete your LiveScan at Cleator Field on Jan 13 between 11am-3pm.

Again, I know that this is a lot.  Please start working through these training requirements as soon as possible and send your certificates to the Safety Officer and the Coaches Coordinator.  Ideally, you should complete all three trainings and then send your completion certificates in one email so as not to flood the Safety Officer's and Coaches Coordinator's inboxes!

We need as many volunteer coaches as possible, so please complete this training so that you are eligible to be on the field during practices and games.

Please contact the Coaches Coordinator at [email protected] or the Safety Officer at [email protected] for any questions.
