Peninsula Little League feels strongly about the positive impact of youth sports. Our program is for all children ages 4-14 years old. Our scholarship program provides full and partial financial assistance to children who otherwise would not be able to participate in our baseball program. Scholarships are only available to cover the cost of league fees and do not cover any additional costs.
To be eligible for a scholarship, the following information must be provided to Peninsula Little League:
- An explanation of why you are requesting a scholarship
- Supporting documents such as an approved Free and Reduced-Price Schools Meals Application by the local school, unemployment records, recent tax return, documentation of current participation in an assistance program such as SNAP, SSI, TANF, CHIP, LIHEAP, etc.
Application information will be kept completely confidential and only review by the Executive Board members. Information will NOT be shared with anyone else.
The scholarship review period takes about 5-7 days. After the application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by the PLL Scholarship Director.
If you are approved for a scholarship you are still required to fulfill your volunteer hours obligation in the Snack Shack for your player's team.
FAQ’s:
- The scholarship program was established to assist families of baseball with financial hardships. For players that meet the eligibility requirements, league fees for the season in question are paid fully or partially by Peninsula Little League.
- Scholarships are neither permanent nor automatically renewed every year. Scholarships expire at the end of each season. Requests for scholarships must be made for each season.
- In financial hardship cases, a scholarship may be requested for each child in your family who wants to play baseball. The Scholarship Committee will examine the needs and make a decision on the scope (full or partial) of the scholarship award(s).
- All scholarships are judged on their own merit. Depending on the circumstances, the scholarship award may be full or it may be partial. The Scholarship Committee will make that determination. If your child currently participates in any type of travel/club baseball/softball team or is taking private baseball/softball lessons of any sort they are not eligible for a scholarship. If a scholarship is granted and the league finds out they are involved in any of the above the scholarship will immediately be revoked and you will be expected to pay the league in full for their league fees.
Note: If you scholarship is approved, you will be given a code to fully register your player(s). Completing the scholarship form is NOT player registration. Your child will not be placed on a team until your scholarship application is complete and THEN the player registration is completed on our website.
