When does the season take place?
Peninsula Little League (PLL) runs two seasons each year. Our primary season is Spring. Registration opens in early November, practices begin in February, and games are played from March through May. Many teams also participate in tournaments during and after the Spring season.
Our Fall season registration opens at the end of May. Practices start in August, and games run from mid-September through mid-November.
How do I sign my child up?
You can find current registration details and access our online registration system on the Registration Page of our website.
What divisions are available?
We offer several levels of play based on age and experience. A complete breakdown of each division, including descriptions and expectations, is available on our Programs page.
What is “Little League Age”?
For Little League, a player’s official League Age is determined by how old they are on August 31 of the playing year. If you need help calculating your player’s League Age, please refer to the 2026 Little League Age Chart.
How do I choose the right level?
Children learn best, and have the most fun, when they are placed at a level that matches both their ability and their safety needs. In most cases, the division that aligns with their League Age is the best starting point. However, we understand that players develop at different rates. Final placement decisions are made by PLL to ensure proper skill level, safety, and balanced team rosters.
My child qualifies for more than one division. What should I do?
If your player is eligible for multiple levels, consider their emotional readiness and prior baseball experience.
- For League Age 6 players: If your child has little or no experience or does not turn 6 before January 1 of the Spring season, Tee Ball is typically a better choice than Rookies.
- For League Age 8 players: We recommend Rookies unless your child has at least two years of Rookies experience and is ready for Minors.
- For League Age 10 players: Minors is strongly recommended.
- For League Age 12 players: Majors is strongly recommended.
Can girls play?
Absolutely. All PLL programs are co-ed. Girls are encouraged to register and participate, provided they meet the safety and skill guidelines for their division.
Are there any discounts available?
Yes. We offer:
- Multi-Player Discount of $15 for each additional child registered in the same family, which is automatically applied at checkout.
- We also offer a Fundraising Discount that provides a full refund of one player’s registration fee. Details about the fundraising program can be found on our Sponsors page.
Do you provide financial assistance?
We understand that youth sports can be a financial strain. PLL is committed to ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we are able to keep registration fees among the lowest in San Diego — often significantly less than neighboring leagues.
If you need additional support, please contact us directly to discuss available assistance options.
Is my child eligible to play at PLL?
Players are eligible if either their home address or school falls within PLL boundaries.
Beginning in 2025, players League Age 4–7 may register with any league of their choosing and remain there as long as they maintain continuous registration. For full details, please visit our Eligibility page.
Are evaluations required?
Evaluations take place in early January to help ensure players are placed appropriately
- Tee Ball: No evaluations required.
- Rookies: Evaluations are conducted to help balance teams and ensure safety. Players will not be cut for skill reasons, though age-appropriate players may be moved to Tee Ball if necessary.
