Peninsula Little League (PLL) Code of Conduct

At Peninsula Little League (PLL), we are committed to creating a positive, safe, and respectful environment for every player and family. In addition to league rules and division guidelines, all players, parents, coaches, and supporters are expected to follow this Code of Conduct.

Our philosophy is simple: we honor the games of baseball and softball and keep the focus on the children. Winning matters — but character, development, and sportsmanship matter more.

Our Shared Commitment

Parents, players, and coaches agree to:

  • Respect the Game — Compete with integrity. Play hard, play fair, and never bend the rules to win.
  • Respect Opponents — Compete fiercely but treat opponents with kindness and courtesy.
  • Respect Officials — Show dignity and composure, even when we disagree with a call.
  • Respect Ourselves — Demonstrate strong character in both victory and adversity.
  • Respect Our Facilities — Leave fields and dugouts cleaner than we found them.

PLL Member Expectations

  • Praise effort regardless of the outcome.
  • Treat all participants with respect — no yelling, ridiculing, or belittling.
  • Support managers, coaches, and players in a positive manner.
  • Respect the decisions of the umpires.
  • Learn and follow league rules and PLL policies.
  • Cheer positively and encourage all players.
  • Remember that a team’s reputation is built on sportsmanship and character — not just wins.
  • Avoid unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting, booing, refusing handshakes, inappropriate language or gestures).
  • Maintain a sports environment free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol at all PLL events.

Parents Code of Conduct

Parents are leaders in the stands and role models for our players. At PLL, parents agree to:

  • Remember the game is for the children — their learning and enjoyment come first.
  • Offer positive encouragement and celebrate small successes.
  • Cheer respectfully and be mindful during lopsided games.
  • Place emotional and physical well-being ahead of winning.
  • Leave coaching to the coaches during games and practices.
  • Inform coaches of any medical or safety concerns.
  • Model respect toward all players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • Refrain from criticizing umpires publicly. Concerns should be submitted in writing to the Division Commissioner or Board President.
  • Avoid confronting coaches at the field. Schedule discussions at an appropriate time and place.
  • Demonstrate sportsmanship by thanking officials and encouraging players to shake hands after each game.
  • Ensure players arrive on time and prepared.
  • Emphasize skill development over winning, especially at younger levels.
  • Understand that PLL may suspend spectator privileges for violations of this Code of Conduct.
  • Have fun — just like the players.

PLL Players Commitment

As a PLL player, I agree to:

  • Play fair, strive to win, and always do my best.
  • Respect umpires and not argue calls.
  • Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, and spectators with respect.
  • Avoid negative or disrespectful remarks.
  • Never throw equipment in anger.
  • Never attempt to injure another participant.

PLL Coaches Commitment

As a PLL coach, I agree to:

  • Follow all Little League safety guidelines.
  • Teach players to compete fairly and give their best effort.
  • Promote sportsmanship, skill development, and fun.
  • Treat each player as an individual with unique development needs.
  • Build confidence and self-esteem through appropriate instruction.
  • Model humility in victory and dignity in defeat.
  • Emphasize team success over individual achievement.
  • Work respectfully with umpires, opposing coaches, and league officials.
  • Maintain open, courteous communication with parents and players.
  • Care responsibly for equipment and facilities.

Together We Build Character

At Peninsula Little League, we believe strong character, respect, and sportsmanship create not only better athletes — but better teammates, leaders, and community members.
